Best Selling SUVs 2022…

Are you an offroader?…Or do you just love vehicles with extra cargo or passenger space and comfortable ground clearance that lets you worry less about bumps and minor road damages? You’re not alone.

SUVs are popular among many drivers, especially non-truck lovers who like elevated rides with off-road capabilities. They are versatile and offer many capabilities of trucks and pickups but with fresh and refined interior and exterior.

SUVs are also popular with families thanks to 3rd-row seating space and enough space for cargo.  They also come in different ranges, prices, and sizes that are unique and suit many users. The additional all-wheel-drive function is a welcome plus for many people giving an extra off-roading capability for rocky terrains.

But dont let the cost bother you, there is an SUV for every pocket.

Sooo… What Do People Consider When Shopping for SUVs?

Start by asking yourselves the simple question, “what type of SUV do I want?

Do you want a subcompact, small, midsize, or large SUV? How much do you intend to spend on your purchase?

Other things to look out for are the seating, cargo space, and safety features. Do you want a 2WD, 4WD, or AWD? Or do you want your SUV for its towing capacity? Do you have the budget for a new SUV or you’re considering a used one?

These and more are some of the questions considered before buying your SUV. This is the first step to help you decide on the right SUV to meet your needs and avoid overspending on extra functions that might not be needed.

All said and done, we put together a list of best-selling SUVs for the year 2022 so far… take a few to read through and you just might find the right match for you!

Best Selling SUVs 2022

We decided to take it from bottom to top in terms of demand.

10. Mazda CX-5

Making the tenth spot on the list is the Mazda CX-5 which sold 81,804 units so far. When the year started Mazda sales were on the high but slowed down in recent times. The new updated 2022 model leads in sales even though it’s 12% less compared to last year.

The reason CR-V saw these sales may be attributed to the fact that the automaker captured their customer with the beautifully sculpted bodywork of the SUV. Also, its athletic and refined nature makes it more premium than its competitors.

9. Hyundai Tucson

Ninth on the list is the Hyundai Tucson with 84,071 units sold so far. The Tucson was redesigned for 2022 allowing it to compete with popular compact crossovers. Tucson rose by 1% compared to last year.

The Hyundai Tucson is a head turner with its daring and futuristic exterior design. It has a well-equipped cabin and available hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains to suit different needs.

8. Nissan Rogue

Nissan Rogue takes the eighth spot on the list with 87,675 units sold so far. Compared to last year, the SUV’s sales are down by 52%. This means in the compact-crossover segment, Rouge is way behind its competition. This didn’t stop it from landing on the top ten best-sellers of 2022, thanks to its combined sales figures of the standard Rogue and smaller Rogue sport.

Despite the drop in sales, Nissan Rouge still has something to offer its customers. Its Rugged design appeals to its buyers and it offers a comfortable ride. It is also equipped with modern interior tech allowing drivers to enjoy their ride.

7. Jeep Wrangler

The Jeep Wrangler is seventh on the list with 99,497 units sold so far. The Wrangler sales declined by 16% compared to the previous year. Car and Driver think Ford Broncos’ 54,842 units sold may have contributed to the drop in sales.

Wrangler has a charming retro styling, and its trail-conquering capability is what makes it the perfect ride for the outdoors. Wrangler is one of the few trucks that offer a convertible experience.

6. Ford Explorer

Ford Explorer comes sixth on the list with 102,917 units sold so far. The Explorer sales are 13% less compared to last year, meaning the SUV is struggling to keep up with the competition in the mid-size SUV category.

Despite the decline, Explorer is still popular among its fans. It’s not a surprise seeing that the SUV offers a comfortable on-road ride and enough space for cargo and people.

5. Honda CR-V

The 2021 Honda CR-V takes the fifth position on the list after the 2022 model sales dropped by 45% compared to the previous year. CR-V made its way to the list with 116,602 units sold so far.

The Honda CR-V comes with grander proportions, more storage space and a whole new look to go head-on with its competition in the compact SUV category.

4. Chevy Equinox

The Chevy Equinox sits in fourth place on this list with 116,678 units sold so far. Although sales declined compared to the previous year, the SUV was still able to hold its ground.

This may be due to its agile on-road nature and a generous amount of fitted infotainment features. It also has lots of passenger space for group and family trips.

3. Toyota Highlander

The Toyota Highlander ranked third on the list with 117,403 units sold so far. The Highlander sales ranked skyrocketed in the early part of the year but dropped in the second quarter. Sales declined by 19% compared to the previous year.

Highlander is popular among many people, especially in West African countries where the roads are difficult to maneuver. The Highlander has an optional hybrid powertrain with excellent fuel economy. The top models are fitted with luxury interior trimmings with plenty of standard techs.

2. Jeep Grand Cherokee

Sitting in second place on the list is the Jeep Grand Cherokee with 134,369 units sold so far. The Grand Cherokee is not used to sitting this high on the list. But with the skyrocketed sales by 25% compared to last year, it’s a new era for Cherokee.

Cherokee’s ruggedly handsome styling makes it appealing to many customers.  It is also fitted with generous standard safety tech and a posh cabin on high-end models.

1. Toyota Rav4

Topping the list and sitting in the first position is the Toyota Rav4 with a whooping 200,885 units sold so far. Even though sales dropped by 9% compared to the previous year, it is still the bestselling SUV of the year giving a wide margin with the second bestselling on the list.

They are many reasons why this SUV is popular among buyers. It is practical and affordable with a good resale value. It also offers a comfortable ride and is fitted with driver assistance features. Rav4s rugged styling also makes it appealing to buyers.

How can Used Car Auctions Save When Buying an SUV?

We’ll assume you have a couple of options you have narrowed down to. Now it’s time to shell out the big bucks. Yes, there’s nothing that beats a vehicle fresh off the assembly line.

But if getting the best for the least cost is your goal, then used car auctions might be what you’re missing.

So how can you save from used car auctions?

Used car auctions provide you the opportunity to save thousands of dollars on your purchase. This is because they are wholesale auctions where your typical used car dealerships source their inventory.
