The reason CR-V saw these sales may be attributed to the fact that the automaker captured their customer with the beautifully sculpted bodywork of the SUV. Also, its athletic and refined nature makes it more premium than its competitors.
9. Hyundai Tucson

Ninth on the list is the Hyundai Tucson with 84,071 units sold so far. The Tucson was redesigned for 2022 allowing it to compete with popular compact crossovers. Tucson rose by 1% compared to last year.
The Hyundai Tucson is a head turner with its daring and futuristic exterior design. It has a well-equipped cabin and available hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains to suit different needs.
8. Nissan Rogue

Nissan Rogue takes the eighth spot on the list with 87,675 units sold so far. Compared to last year, the SUV’s sales are down by 52%. This means in the compact-crossover segment, Rouge is way behind its competition. This didn’t stop it from landing on the top ten best-sellers of 2022, thanks to its combined sales figures of the standard Rogue and smaller Rogue sport.
Despite the drop in sales, Nissan Rouge still has something to offer its customers. Its Rugged design appeals to its buyers and it offers a comfortable ride. It is also equipped with modern interior tech allowing drivers to enjoy their ride.
7. Jeep Wrangler

The Jeep Wrangler is seventh on the list with 99,497 units sold so far. The Wrangler sales declined by 16% compared to the previous year. Car and Driver think Ford Broncos’ 54,842 units sold may have contributed to the drop in sales.
Wrangler has a charming retro styling, and its trail-conquering capability is what makes it the perfect ride for the outdoors. Wrangler is one of the few trucks that offer a convertible experience.
6. Ford Explorer

Ford Explorer comes sixth on the list with 102,917 units sold so far. The Explorer sales are 13% less compared to last year, meaning the SUV is struggling to keep up with the competition in the mid-size SUV category.
Despite the decline, Explorer is still popular among its fans. It’s not a surprise seeing that the SUV offers a comfortable on-road ride and enough space for cargo and people.
5. Honda CR-V

4. Chevy Equinox

The Chevy Equinox sits in fourth place on this list with 116,678 units sold so far. Although sales declined compared to the previous year, the SUV was still able to hold its ground.
This may be due to its agile on-road nature and a generous amount of fitted infotainment features. It also has lots of passenger space for group and family trips.
3. Toyota Highlander

The Toyota Highlander ranked third on the list with 117,403 units sold so far. The Highlander sales ranked skyrocketed in the early part of the year but dropped in the second quarter. Sales declined by 19% compared to the previous year.

2. Jeep Grand Cherokee

Sitting in second place on the list is the Jeep Grand Cherokee with 134,369 units sold so far. The Grand Cherokee is not used to sitting this high on the list. But with the skyrocketed sales by 25% compared to last year, it’s a new era for Cherokee.
Cherokee’s ruggedly handsome styling makes it appealing to many customers. It is also fitted with generous standard safety tech and a posh cabin on high-end models.
1. Toyota Rav4

Topping the list and sitting in the first position is the Toyota Rav4 with a whooping 200,885 units sold so far. Even though sales dropped by 9% compared to the previous year, it is still the bestselling SUV of the year giving a wide margin with the second bestselling on the list.
