If you are looking for class and innovation with German build quality, it is hard to look past the brand that boasts a star on its hood, Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes-Benz is a division of the German giant Daimler, headquartered in Stuttgart, than can trace its origins to 1886, when Karl Benz produced what is now regarded as the first gasoline-powered vehicle.

But history is not what we’re after. We are after the most expensive Mercedes car on the current market.

Wherever you look at, Mercedes is proud of its slogan “the best or nothing”, which translates into the quality of their vehicles, no matter what segment.

However, if you are looking for the most expensive Mercedes, there are a couple of standout performers and one that is regarded as the pinnacle of business luxury.

You might think that a Mercedes AMG GT, which starts at $124,400, is top of the lot, but you’d be wrong. An S-Class Coupe starts at $124,500 and its Cabriolet sister starts at $133,300.

But that pales in comparison to the Mercedes-Maybach, Daimler’s ultra-luxury brand that grinded to a halt in 2013 as a Maybach brand under the Mercedes-Benz flag. Now it is a separate division and the Mercedes-Maybach starts at $170,750 for the S560 model, while you can enter the world of the S650 jet on the road starting from $198,700.
