Having your own car is a necessity for many people. However, buying a new car can not only be unaffordable, be also a hassle.
If there was only a way to get new cars at used car prices, you think. Well, it’s your lucky day: that’s exactly what can happen if you shop for new vehicles from an online car auction.
Why Are Car Auctions So Cheap?
Car auctions, especially those for brand new cars, can be a great source of inexpensive vehicles. This is made possible by the fact that new car auctions are where car dealers buy stock from quite often, so the cars offered here are sold at wholesale prices of as much as 60 percent less than the price you would expect for the same car on the dealer lot.
So why doesn’t everyone buy directly from new car auctions, either online or in-person? The truth is that only the select few are ever allowed to participate in these new car auctions. That’s not to say that there aren’t other types of car auctions that are available and open to the public – but these auctions hardly ever carry brand new cars. New cars are only ever found in dealer-only auctions, where you have to show your dealer license at the door or at registration.
So How Do You Get In?
There are a couple of ways a non-dealer can get into a dealer-only auction. The first way is rather time-consuming, but it’s the only way to get into one of these new car auctions at the actual venue. You need to tag along with a family member or friend who has a dealer license the next time they go to a dealer auction.
Another option is by simply attending a dealer auction online. While you’ll still need a dealer license to get into the auction itself, you won’t have to bother a friend or family member. That’s because there are companies that will loan you the use of their dealer licenses so you can bid on brand new cars at certain online dealer auctions.
For a small fee, one of these third-party proxy companies will let you view an online car auction’s inventory and will follow your instructions if you find any vehicles you want to bid on. Simply tell the proxy bidders which car you want and how much you’re willing to spend on it, and they’ll do the bidding for you up to your maximum amount.
Most proxy bidder companies will also offer vehicle transportation services at very competitive rates, either for an additional fee or as part of your initial fee. This means your car will be loaded onto a flatbed or covered trailer and transported right to your address.
In fact, you might even be able to get your car shipped overseas if you’re living in a foreign country. While import taxes, shipping costs, and other fees are your responsibility, your proxy bidder will make all the necessary arrangements for getting that car of yours from port to port. All you need to do is to pick it up.
