Every year, car manufacturers release new cars. Although they tend to look similar to previous releases, there are some distinct features which tell them apart. The differences could be in the body, safety features, or added technology. However, often the most obvious difference is in the price of the car. The newer the vehicle, the higher the cost. However, it is possible to drive a 2018 model that is favorably priced. These are some of the cheapest new cars in the US.
1. 2018 Nissan Versa Note S ($16,485)

Some of the significant features in this car, besides the price, are the space at the back and the fuel economy. If these are features you cannot compromise on, this car is excellent for you. Unfortunately, it has some drawbacks. It has a very weak horsepower. Compared to the models it is competing with, this car is quite sluggish. Before investing your money on the 2018 Nissan Versa, it may be best to check out other vehicles of the same class. After all, you’d still want to enjoy your drive irrespective of the amount you invested in your car.
2. 2018 Ford Focus ($17,950)

Ford Focus has maintained the same hatchback since 2012. It has not lost its appeal yet, so it was no surprise to see the same fold in the 2018 model. If price and fuel economy are at the top of your checklist, this 3-cylinder may be what you are looking for. The acceleration is moderate but efficient for this car. Unfortunately, in spite of the well-shaped front seats, the space at the back is limited. Additional features in this car include USB and Bluetooth stereo. If you have a collection of CD players you hardly listen to, you get to have your moment with them in the 2018 Ford Focus. The infotainment system is user-friendly. Although it passed most of its tests, it did not do well in the latest IIHS crash tests.
3. Mazda 3-4 Door Sport ($18,970)

Besides its sleek appearance, this car is fuel efficient. It has a horsepower of 155 with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. It comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission and a 5-speed manual transmission. If you are interested in a car that is worth less than $20,000 but brings a lot more than it looks, then it has got to be the 2018 Mazda 3 Sedan. You also get to choose between a 4-door sedan and a 5-door hatchback. However, if you are inclined to an all-wheel drive and a car that has all the trappings of a luxury car, this may not be a suitable choice.
4. 2018 Honda Fit ($17,429)

This 1.5L, 4-cylinder, 130 horsepower car combines style with fuel efficiency and great resale value. The city mpg is 33 while the highway mpg is 40. You get a cheap new car that is cheap to run. What more can one want? Maybe some space? This is something the 2018 Honda Fit does not lack. Its boxy shape gives it quite some space for a car of its size. It has headroom of 39.5 inches and legroom of 41.4 inches. The legroom in the hind seat is 39.3 inches and headroom of 37.5 inches. The glass areas are quite generous. Drivers of this car can easily check parallel parking and blind spots.
5. 2018 Hyundai Accent ($15,880)

Hyundai got rid of the hatchback, probably because it was not a selling point. However, this roomier and fuel-efficient sedan could easily make up for the loss, especially to those who loved the hatchback. The 2018 Hyundai Accent has more length and width to it. This has had an impact on the front and rear legroom. Cargo space has remained the same as all the other models. However, this has never been a problem since cargo space has not been a consideration for many sedan drivers. The car effectively combines style, performance, and comfort.

6. 2018 FIAT 500X ($19,995)

This 5-door hatchback Italian car is a front wheel drive that is incredibly well priced. You get to choose between the Pop, Trekking, Lounge, and Urbana. The Pop with an automatic transmission costs a little over $20,000. It has a horsepower of 160 and a combined mpg of 28. The interior of the 2018 Fiat 500x was improved from the previous models. It also has a user-friendly infotainment system that is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android. It comes with a rearview mirror, as per the requirement of new models. Compared to its competitors, its warranty is quite short. The cargo area is also quite small.
7. 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage ($13,395)

If what you are looking for is a modern car with lots of technology, the 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage may not be the right choice. A standard rearview mirror is the only safety feature it has. The 1.2litre 3-cylinder motor produces 78 horsepower. One of its attractions is the 37mpg city and 43mpg highway. If you intend to have a fuel-efficient car to drive in the city traffic, this car could work for you. However, if you will be spending some time on the highway, you probably should think of another car. This car still has some degree of modernity in it. It has a start push button, Android and Apple CarPlay compatibility as well as heated seats. It comes with a 5-year warranty.
8. 2018 KIA Rio EX 5-Door ($13,900)

Owners of the 2018 Kia Rio have given it high ratings when it comes to reliability, value for money, comfort, interior, and performance. This 4th generation KIA is quite impressive. A lot of thought went into the presentation on the dashboard. Since it is a sub-compact, the restrictive space at the back is expected. Its infotainment system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android. It comes with a 1.6litre 4-cylinder engine with a 130hp. It may not have the engine power that most cars have, but for its size and price, it is a great drive. The 7-inch touch screen and rearview mirror are a great added touch.
9. 2018 Chevrolet Sonic Sedan ($17,270)

One of the tweaks in the 2018 Chevrolet Sonic Sedan is the color variations that were missing in the previous models. Compared to the Chevrolet Spark, this car is a little bigger and more powerful. It has a turbocharged 1.8 liter 4-cylinder engine with a 138hp. It comes with either manual or automatic transmission. The Chevrolet Sonic with a manual transmission is slightly cheaper at $16,000. Some of the additional features which make this car a great bargain is the available Wi-Fi-hotspot and Apple CarPlay. Although you need to crank open the windows, this car competes favorably against Hyundai Accent, Toyota Yaris and Kia Rio.
10. 2018 Toyota Yaris ($16,530)

Compared to other cars in its class, this car did not do too well because of the sluggish acceleration, absence of backspace and unrefined transmission. However, the 2018 Toyota Yaris has some positive aspects. For a car of its size and price, it is packed with safety features and technology available in pricier fancier cars. Its reliability ratings have also been outstanding, with J.D Power rating it as one of the best. It is a front-wheel drive with a 106hp. Its fuel efficiency is estimated to be 30mpg city and 36 Highway.
