Top 3 Fastest-Selling Sedans 

Sedans make up the top 10 fastest-selling vehicles in Nigeria and are the most popular vehicles in the world.

  1. Toyota Corolla

Coming on this list once again is the Corolla. It is safe to say that the Toyota Corolla is the fastest-selling car and is one of the most popular brands found in Nigeria and the world. 

 

Car owners love this car brand because of its outstanding quality, reliability, and availability of parts. The biggest flex of the Corolla is that it has good fuel economy.

The Corolla is available in sedans and hatchback models, giving its customers different body style options with the same performance. The most recent Corolla is built with a more stylish body and offers a more comfortable ride with an elegant refined cabin.

 

The Corolla comes with a 139-hp 1.8-liter four-cylinder and a 169-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder that pairs with a CVT or an optional 6-speed manual transmission. Corolla sedan also offers a hybrid model. 

 

The EPA fuel economy is city/highway 53/52 mpg for hybrid, 40 mpg highway for the 2.0-liter engine and 38 mpg highway for the 1-8-liter engine.

The 3.5-liter V-6 engine produces 301 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque, with a fuel economy of 22/33 mpg city/highway. 

 

The gas-electric Hybrid engine is combined with a four-cylinder gas engine and produces 208-hp with an electric motor, with a fuel economy of 51/53 mpg or 44/47 above the LE trim. 

 

  1. Lexus ES

If you want a combination of luxury and affordability and focus on being a cruiser with a well-decorated luxury. Lexus is Toyota’s luxury brand and it is more affordable than other luxury counterparts – like Mercedes Benz or Porsche

 

The latest ES gives a quiet and comfortable driving experience which is really appealing to lots of drivers. 

 

The ES offers customers three powertrain choices – a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 203 hp and an all-wheel drive as the standard. A powerful 3.5-liter V-6 engine that produces 302 hp using 8-speed automatic transmission. 

 

The most fuel-efficient model is the hybrid powertrain which comes with front-wheel drive as a standard and produces 215 hp using a CVT.  

 

Fuel economy for the ES is: combined/city/highway: 28/25/34 mpg

  1. Toyota Highlander

Toyota Highlander is the most popular SUV in Nigeria and the first choice for a lot of drivers. 

 

The Toyota Highlander is a stylish SUV that is very practical, comfortable for families. It comes with enough cargo capacity, good safety scores, and driver-assist features. 

 

The Highlander has great off-roading and towing capacity enough to haul your family off to an adventure.  

 

The engine is a 295-hp 3.5-liter V-6, with 8-speed automatic transmission with either front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive option. It has a fuel economy of  21/29 mpg city/highway. 

 

The fuel-saving hybrid model comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and two electric motors are combined to produce 243 hp with CVT. It also comes with an option between front-wheel-drive and all-wheel drive. The fuel economy for the lineup is 36 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway. 

 

The hybrid offers more fuel efficiency than the standard engine model. 

 

  1. Toyota Venza

The Toyota Venza was discontinued in 2015 but was brought back as a hybrid-only option in 2021. Venza is a lineup between RAV-4 and Highlander.

 

Venza has a comfortable, and luxurious interior with active safety tech. It offers an optional electrochromic panoramic sunroof – with a switch, the sunroof’s glass panels turn from transparent to opaque

 

The standard drivetrain is a 181-hp four-cylinder, with a 268-hp V-6 as an option. It comes with a standard 6-speed automatic transmission. 

 

The hybrid is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine and three electric motors that generate 219 hp and come in all-wheel drive as a standard.

 

Venza offers good fuel economy of combined/city/highway: 39/40/37 mpg

Powerful and frugal hybrid engine and offers a good fuel economy. It comes with a 3.5-liter V-6 plus two electric motors that produce 290 hp power and torque of 263 lb-ft. It uses an 8-speed transmission which is really fast. 

 

The fuel economy is: combined/city/highway: 21/18/25 mpg

  1. Toyota Hilux

The Toyota Hilux is a rugged truck with off-roading capabilities with modern interior. It comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen with smartphone mirroring tech by way of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

 

The Hilux comes with a two-seat Single Cab, an Extra Cab with occasional rear seats, or a full Double Cab. The Double Cab is the most popular option because of its four doors and usable rear seats.

 

The Hilux comes with a 2.4-liter diesel engine that produces 148bhp and 201bhp 2.8-liter diesel engines. Both engines can be combined with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.

 

  1. Toyota Tacoma

The Toyota Tacoma is a rugged truck that comes with great off-roading capabilities and reliability. Tacoma’s interior furnishing has nicer materials and modern features and it comes with driver-assistance tech.

 

Tacoma comes with a 2.7-liter I-4 that offers 159 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque standard engine. It’s coupled with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission and comes with RWD as standard and 4WD as an option. 

 

The fuel economy with the automatic transmission is 20/23 mpg city/highway for RWD, or 19/22 mpg city/highway for 4WD.

 

Tacoma also comes with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine which produces 278 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque which can also be upgraded. The V-6 comes with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. 

 

The fuel economy for the automatic transmission is 19/24 mpg city/highway for the RWD or 18/22 city/highway for 4WD. The manual transmission in TRD Pro trim has a fuel economy of 17/20 mpg city/highway.

 

  1. Ford F-150

Ford’s popular pickup truck F-150 lineup has a nicely outfitted cabin and awesome productivity features including an onboard generator. 

 

It comes with no fewer than 6 powertrains including the hybrid model. The hybrid model has quick acceleration. 

 

The F-150 comes with a wide range of engines options, gas, diesel, and hybrid. A maximum towing capacity of 14,000 pounds.  

 

The F-150 is available with several engines:  3.3-liter V6 290-hp, 265 lb-ft torque; turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 325 hp, 400 lb-ft; 5.0-liter V8 400 hp, 410 lb-ft; turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel V6 250 hp, 440 lb-ft; turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 400 hp, 500 lb-ft. 

 

Its hybrid powertrain is Ford’s PowerBoost which combines the turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 with an electric motor and a battery pack of 430 hp, 570 lb-ft. It comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission. 

 

The fuel economy is: combined/city/highway 24/24/24 mpg
